Hello hello!
Nowadays we just have so many zoom calls. Do you have enough bandwidth to enjoy full Zoom features? What internet speed do I need?
Let’s find out.
Through google search: Zoom says that 1.5 MBps is enough! That’s not a lot considering most people in the US have much higher broadband speed. Even my cell phone service can provide 10 times of that. Some university says you need 25 MBps.
I decided to try it myself. I used 3 devices with video on. The Zoom statistics tells me the bandwidth is normally about 8 Mbps (note that there is a 1:8 unit conversion here); At peak however, it can reach equivalent of 24-30 Mbps. You need 25 MBps bandwidth, this is about right.
Consider if you have siblings, children, pets doing video calls, netflix, then each will need similar bandwidth. One for 25 Mbps, Two for 50, and 5 for 125 Mbps!
Some people say, you can watch Netflix, you are fine with Zoom. That is about right too, because netflix consumes more bandwidth than Zoom.
