Fusion 360 received some backlash when they announced their free licenses would reduce features. Some feared Autodesk would “lock away” their designs should Autodesk decide they weren’t eligible for a “Maker” or educational license anymore. Here’s what really happens!

Maybe Autodesk should give their business model some deep insight and update …
Pirate it instead:)
I let my subscription lapse, and now I'm being hunted. I haven't slept in days, and I'm hungry. I'm writing this from an undisclo — hang on, I hear something. There's someone outside. I gotta go.
Nice however I prefer to use software I pay for only once and works offline.
I jsut use a cracked version, works fine
Just use an education account 🤫
I don't have a problem witb Fusion being subscription only with any entry level teir around $50 a month, that's a decent price for a really decent CAD software. I do have a problem with Autodesk continually removing and nerfing features (web-based interface, local simulation, CAM features etc ) and their god awful login services and not having hot seat options.
🤫
I'm REALLY interested in Generative design for additive manufacturing but for the extensions and the subscription..320/month..even going through the autosesk courses on coursera, you still have to pay full price.. I was very disappointed to find that out for I either have to go back to college or pay 320 a MONTH to Learn the software. The courses total almost 3 years so 320/month x 36 months = too much
These services are basically extortion.
The opt out for the auto renew doesn't work, and the payment hits your account on a Saturday so you can't call them to cancel until Monday.
Absolute garbage company.
Until they shut off the cloud sometime in the future. Always back up your data yourself.
The reason I switched to open source.
Imagine having all your files linked to to the cloud. This comment was made by the freecad gang
Is this trick still working in 2023?
Hopefully this still works and I can export my STL’s 😅
learn how to use Blender, it's far better than fusion and the community is huge unlike fusion.
Do you know what happens when your FreeCAD license expires? IT DOESNT!
DONT LOCK YOUR MODELS IN PROPRIETARY SOFTWARE!
I actually needed this!
Very good reason not to use Fusion360.
Your files are indeed lost if you are going to save in any other format. All history and parameters are lost.
a swat team comes smashing trough you door an going to force you to buy a new licence
atleat thats what happened to me
okay, my student license has expired and my license has changed to a 30-day trial. When the trial expires I will have top get a personal use license. Will I still have ALL the hundreds of models I have spent 5 years and countless hours making but only have 10 models active at any time, or is this an entirely new account starting from scratch with no models at all? I mean thisis the reason I feared having a CORPORATION CONTROL ACCESS TO ALL MY PROPERTY!!!!!!!
Awesome!!!
END SOFTWARE SUBSCRIPTIONS.
Not true. Just go online a get a free Bobbie trail again. Easy. Have done this 3 times now
What really Happens? You move to onshape!
Total ripoff, there are similar free CAD alternatives like onshape, pathetic that they hold old files hostage instead of just disabling creation of new files
Cool
U torrent solid works. That's what happens and you live happier
Yar har fiddle dee dee…
student liscence supremacy
Too much trouble to be a hostage from this "rental/subscription" for a tool. This is ridiculous. Just use another software, using Autodesk is pathetic for this.
it can be used for free after trial ,only for personal use not for commercial .am using it.just need to active it though after trial
Fusion 360 is free for hobbiests?
Noooo don't post this! Autodesk will be onto us in a flash.
I talked to an Autodesk rep earlier this week… This nag functionality is simply supposed to remind you to renew your subscription. You can apply the Free license and you get access to all your files again, but you can only have 10 "Active" at a time until you upgrade the license again.
I'm still using the "Personal – Not for commercial use" license. Limited in number of read/write (editable) projects at a time to 10 but other than that I can still export to STEP and can use the Make option in tools to export to STL. Was a bit hard to get there after the change though, got the message I had to upgrade but after a lot of work managed to get back to using the personal license, as I make no money at all of my 3D cading and 3D printing. I was very angry there for a while thinking I had to get a subscription for a hobby that makes no money. I am very happy that Autodesk still supply that option which is very kind.
Welp, problems. My account expired, but my school disabled my gmail account, so I have no way to get the export files. I have the files for an entire 3D printer (9 months of work) and I don't want to lose it. What do i do.
Auto desk is a pyramid scheme, I used to work with them professionally. They suck and have zero care for their user base, they laugh about people having trouble, they are horrible tech oligarchs.
Or just renew your personal use license. They hide it pretty well so that people get tricked into buying the product, but the option is there somewhere.
