A must-have lens Canon 50mm Prime Lens (Nifty Fifty), which in this video is being demonstrated with Canon 18-55mm Kit lens.
The comparison is on the fixed focal length vs dynamic focal length, also the aperture which 50mm fixed focal length is f/1.8 and 18-55mm kit lens aperture varies from f/3.5-5.6. The video tutorial also demonstrates the photo and video comparison between Nifty Fifty and Kit Lens.

Thank you so much for such an informative comparison, you have answered the questions I was concerned about.
Who tf uses 400 or higher during daytime, no matter if cloudy or not, it's 100 max 200 during the day. It's like you f*cked up the pics with the kit lens on purpose. Ofc it's noisy when you're turning up the iso.
Thumbs down only because the music makes it hard to understand you. I'm hard of hearing.
Wouldn't another fix for low light photography on the 18-55mm be just slowing the shutter speed as well? That way more light can be taken in?
Can you show the difference between Canon 50 mm f1.8 with settings ( f4.0 ) and Canon 18-55mm with settings ( 50mm , f4.0 )
Will the pictures be the same?
Great and straight to the point
shotup
Thank you dude!
Brother, Do u still stay in KL?very informative video. Tnx for making this video.
You are a genius at presenting.
This helped me so much!! Thanks a ton
You don't need iso 400 for a cloudy day or 1600 for the pot photo, with iso 200 it's enough. It is important to know how to take photos and learn to use the 18-55. But, as in other videos, it seems that they want to make the kit lens look bad.
Aside from aperture, Bokeh, and distances differences, is a prime 50mm lens the same as zoom 50mm when it comes to distortion? For example, a 16mm on the human face looks dumb. Aside from sharpness or F stops, are the fixed and zoom lenses at 50mm the same when it comes to making a face look stupid – like 16, 24, and 35mm do?
Nice & informative video
Great precise, to the point, informative & well done. Good job and thanks.
Thank you so much! Very informative and straight to the point!
Thanks a lot for this video! The 50mm is definitely my favourite.
Are both lenses have the same sharpness and color quality ?
Ok so just making sure this is correct –
So when I use my kit lens I could still have the same difference, but my apaerwture is around 4-6 right, but if I got this prime lens I could have the same distance with just a more open ape rather at 1.8?
So If i shot the same subject with the same focal length but on the different lenses, my 1.8 would just be more depth, giving me more bokeh? I hope I’m understanding! 🙂
Let's be honest its a gimmick for 120 bucks it doesn't make that big a difference about the same as popping 2 different lenses exactly the same on but made 2 days apart..
Thank you! It was very helpful!
Thank you so much this helped us a lot
Thank you for an informative video. Much appreciated!!
Very use full video nice explain
Thank you for teaching me that not all lenses have the ability to zoom in and out. I just assumed they did! Thanks for saving me some money! lol
Is it good for videos
It looks I don't even need the 50mm lens. I have the 18 55mm by the way.
You can blurr the back ground out in the editing software without buying a lens that is already in the range of a zoom you have
Thank you for the vídeo! Very educational!
that was much helpful good luck bro
The best video thanks brother
could have included low light comparison.
Hii, can i use the 50mm 1.8stm lense on my canon eos 100D?
Thanks
would this be a good lens for the canon t6i?
Hi, thanks for the video! Would u advise the best one for a video shooting (food channel on YouTube)? I'm now using this kit 18-55mm, f4-5.6, not bad at all, but it really really lacks a good zoom and a nice bokeh…🙄 which is necessary quite often to make some juicy videos of a ready meal… some advised to get this fixed 50mm with f1.8, i.e. thinking more of a diaphragm, but I was thinking more of a focus length maybe, and get 18-135mm for instance? I'd really appreciate your advise🙏Thank you!
I dont know those two lenses but trust me and never buy 55-105 lens when you buy a camera for the first time
Terribly done. You forgot a huge element of the photos and video in the description. What is the f-stop? The lenses are apples and oranges. Except if you set them up identically. They will preform virtually identical at 50mm and f-stop set the same. You barely showed the true differences in the lenses.
Sir… I teach by writing on the White board with enough lighting but words are not sharp, crispy & visible enough. I want to make my words look sharp & crispy, I have to decrese ISO to 100 but When I do it I myself don't look good even after having sufficient lighting.
If I want me & my words look clear & crispy with good light, then which lens should I purchase for white board teaching for best quality ? Sir plz help me….
really enjoyed watching your work

helpful.thank you
Great comparison. Just what I was looking for!
When I use the nifty fifty, do I have to keep my camera on manual focus? I don’t think it can use the facial auto focus features… is this right?
