Hi can someone help me? I have a person who walks 35m left, then 18m right, then 26m left. Using the displacement formula of final – initial is not working. I know what the answer should be but I cant understand why the final – initial is not working. Can someone please show the correct workings and explain ?

I disagree about your formula in displacement. It is not accurate, it should be the same with the formula in distance and in respect with the negative and positive application of its direction. e.g. A helicopter wanted to scout a particular area. It travels 10m going east, then it goes 13m going west. Finally, it arrived to its final location 2m going east. Compute the distance and displacement covered by the helicopter.
