How does the applaud feature work? Why do some channels have it but others do not?

Can anyone help me with this question: I started a channel and 4 years ago I changed the name of it and deleted all my old videos (about a certain cryptocurrency) However, still I see in my contacts it calls me by my old channel name and it just annoys me. When I send photos from my phone is says from my old channel name, however in ALL of the places to change your info there in NOWHERE -trust me I have looked – where I can delete this old name. Any ideas?? Anyone??!!
