That’s sad. I live in the Alps and can maintain 30. Nothing is flat here. Just train hard and stop kidding yourself. Besides that, average speed is not impressive. I’m more impressed by normalized power.
Isn’t “maintaining an average speed” a bit of an oxymoron?
How i am faster on uphill while on Flat or downhill im slow ;-;
The hills are-your-friend!
You're only cheating yourself
But I live in Cymru, impossible
It’s really hilly around where I live so my average speed has been 19km/h and it’s only my 3rd ride on my dads old road bike it’s really fun! Thanks for inspiring me to take up cycling!
i thought that GCN was providing advices to become better, not to look better ( even if anyone would know that 30 km/h on flat is nothing )
Not possible in Colorado
I improved the most by doing the opposite — hammer it up the hills and coast down in a tuck, only moving the pedals enough to let blood flow back out of the legs. The extra speed downhill wastes more of your effort due to air resistance, and you’ll slow down far more if your legs are already tired when you hit the next hill.
When you godown hill… Don't you come back uphill😂
That was my average speed on my first IronMan 70.3!!!
Strava freaks also pause and then re start at junctions to artificially raise average speed…
30K average …………thats me falling off a building
My average speed in my town is around 18-20km/Hr, too much stopping and starting. But in rural I’m around 22km/hR nowhere near 30. But I’m on a gravel bike (on road) so pretty hard to get to average 30. For me anyways
If you find yourself planning a route with little to no elevation or downhill just to impress your middle aged Strava buddies, you have a serious problem and should seek help. Ride uphill slowly, that makes you a man.
