Some of the tips in the tutorial made seem obvious to you, but there are also some nifty icon design tips and tricks that you may not have previously known about.

instead of doing that at 3:04 you can just make a rectangle and bend the sides with the selector tool and then cut it in half with the scissors

Great Video, thank you for that. I have to create SVG 32×32 / 16×16 Icons for a Windows Software for my friend. I will draw the icons with Illu. I set my Illu to snap on pixel. If I draw not to the pixel, in the software are rly unsharp. Do I do a failure? Any Tips?
The other thing I would say is the icons should have the same design style or aesthetic as much as possible to adhere to corresponding brand identity

#1 Preview bound settings in preference (turn it on)
#2 Use geometric shapes instead of drawing you own
#3 Use preview Pixel mode (alt+command/ctrl +y)
#4 User grids (cmd/ctrl + ')
#5 Basic & minimal so details remain even if icon is minimized
#6 Always outline your strokes (object -> expand)
#7 Arrange and display icons in grids neatly
