We got Starlink at our new place in Trentham and so far it’s been very impressive ! For those wanting to find out more about this cool little satellite, then this video is for you. Also, our Model Y is arriving VERY soon, video coming next week !!

#starlink
Probably not starlinks on others roofs, it's probably 'fixed wireless' NBN
Hey, can I ask how you strapped the mounting to your roof?. I just ordered my starlink and I don't want to spend more money on their mounting adapter.
Thank you!
Now Telstra and Starlink have partnered❤
Hardware prices have come down a lot since, $200 gets you started if you dont mind a refurb. Monthly fee's a little on the high side tho.
Nice video. Is there any update regarding the quality and speed most recently, like 2023/2024? Thanks
When I visited Australia for the first time in 2022 from the UK I was shocked to learn how slow the internet was.
megaBITS lol.. huge difference. You are getting about 15 megaBYTES per second. Just correcting this for you.
Remember when the NBN was rolled out? Lol. I was lucky having fibre to the house, so our speed is always 100 plus
my ears >>>>>>
how badly does weather effect it? does a bit of clouds slow the speeds much and does it go fully out during a storm?
That's my only concern with this.
Down speeds are nice but quite disappointed on those upload speeds.
I don't think those are 'starlink' at 3:20 ish when you go for your walk. They look a lot like mixed NBN stuff. I have something very similar on my roof and it is – well, it is what it is. Better than not having the internet.
Please note it is BITS PER SECOND not bytes per second!
learn the difference between megabits and megabytes mon frere
Nice setup, but it's not 125 megabytes it's megabits, also those other houses are using NBN fixed wireless not STARLINK… Fixed Wireless NBN does suck, but eventually it'll be pulling 100Mbps-250Mbps. not megabytes, megabits. You would've had to have NBN fixed wireless just like the other houses around you, I'm using NBN skymuster satellite and I'm getting roughly 35-45Mbps with a ping 400-550ms.
megabits per second not megabytes per second. big difference.
I'm on NBN saturlite and I can watch YouTube
Why don't you show upload speeds
What about the latency, aka ping, especially when connected to north americans and European servers? Need to know for online gaming purposes.
We had NBN satellite for about 10 years in tassie. It was absolute pain. We never saw speeds over 1mbps and ping would honestly spike upto 6000ms all the time and never went below 1200ms. So unless it's drastically improved in the last couple of years, it's absolute garbage. I felt godly when we upgraded to fixed wireless and now get speeds around 20mbps and can watch videos over 240p.
25 Mbps is 25 megabits per second
Megabits not Megabytes… 🙂 25Mbps is about 210Mbps.
I can get over 50 mbps with NBN fixed wireless anytime of day, including peak times in evening. NBN has spent millions upgrading towers where the 5 G signal comes from. There is rarely congestion now and the speeds are comparable to where we lived before in a semi rural area not that far from a capital city, which had fibre to the kerb. Starlink is very sporadic and frankly way too expensive for what it delivers.. A few people have it nearby and all complain that it is very over rated for the initial cost, and not value for money per month either. NBN have said if enough people still on ADSL in our region go to fixed wireless first, even with it's limitations, they will eventually end up with fibre to the kerb in some places as the underground infrustructure for the still used analogue phones usually has plenty of room to run fibre optic cable also. It is the elderly people too used to ADSL and just happy to send emails and do a bit of banking, that stop the progress to new fibre cables being installed. There has to be the demand first, and it is the oldies on ADSL who won't change or accept change who are stopping progress in many areas outside of capital cities.
Mega "Bits"
Oh wow! i've watched lots of your Tesla vids mate. Didn't know you were in Trentham. We're in Lancefield!!! We have a red 2020 Model 3 and just past 150,000km.
Way too slow we have fine to the home and it’s massively faster than star-link. Maybe it time some one found a way to brink those pesky satellites down
I get the same through old copper🤷🏼♂️
MegaBYTES no it is not MegaBYTES does on screen are Bits and it matters as BYTE is "built" using 8 bits. Also when you don't have to point anything you can always say how cable is long lol 🙂
Hi, in Gippsland Vic, no mobile phone coverage. Currently have satellite internet. 45 Mbps download, 10 Mbps upload, ping 612. This video played fine, as do most you tubes.
In one of you YouTube shorts you had a sunroof visor that retracts. Can u share its origin and practicality. Thanks.
So cool bro. 😎
What’s the upload speed
Ok can you plz do a video with you hosting a Hearts of Iron 4 game with people outside of Australia plz
$450 atm
How long does the contract go for?
Are there cancellation fees?
I have lots of trees. The scan says "you may wish to try another location". Very vague and not helpful considering the setup cost. There also is no customer service. I can't get any advice
Not sure if your neighbours have starlink, looks more like NBN fixed wireless.
the difference between the download speed on the mac and starlink app are what they test it at. for example the mac tests the speed in Mega*bytes*(Mbs) and the app tests it in mega*bits*(mbs). the difference between the two are that a megabyte is made of around 7 megabits. so there was no difference in internet due to the latency between the two being the same (30-40ms in the video)
Lol f U! I can see you just fine on my 25mbps line NBN. 🤣 Smart arse.
I found it interesting thanks
My nbn is incredible. I live in katherine northern Territory.
1:30 no joke, but the video buffered as soon as you said this, which is all the more funnier.
Had to order it recently, being 60% off due to christmas.
I wonder how good it is if your a gamer like on ps5?
Satellite – an artificial body placed in orbit round the earth or moon or another planet in order to collect information or for communication.
"a communications satellite"
You may want to look up the definition of a satellite receiver and antenna as well.
Australian media's total misuse of the most basic terminology is bad enough, please don't make it worse.
there not starlink thatS actually NBN FIXED WIRELESS
im on nbn fixed wireless and about to get starlink i currently get 6-10 mps download speed
