In this video, I’ll teach you a simple hack to level any size canvas for fluid art acrylic pouring. This video teaches you my process for preparing a canvas for acrylic pouring. At the end of this video, there is a super simple hack that’s affordable and easy to find that allows you to level any size canvas. It is one of the most important steps in fluid art. An unlevel canvas will destroy a painting and it will happen before you notice! ALWAYS LEVEL YOUR POURING SURFACES!
Transcripts Below:
hey guy in this video I’m gonna share with you a super simple hack on how to level any size canvas. It’s super important in fluid art an acrylic pouring to make sure that your canvas and your surface that your canvas is on is level because you can destroy a whole painting just by having one of your edges off by a hair. so what I start by doing and I do this process for all of my canvases, is I start by using just simple blue painters tape and I tape off the edges. the reason I do this is because once I pour and the edges get all drippy and nice, I don’t want to sign on them and it’s a personal preference you technically don’t have to tape off the backs. this is just how I do it. the hack comes in when you purchase an awesome package of, I don’t know, fifty hooks from either a Lowe’s or a Home Depot. any probably home-improvement store would have them. it’s a hook on one side with a screw end on the other. for the sake of the video I’ve already started one and I add four to each canvas. like I said it doesn’t matter the size. I do it for all my canvases, I tape and I put these on. what it gives me is the capability of doing is leveling, because I don’t have a super level surface. even though you should, like a huge rule, level! I’m just not in a situation I can have it always level, so I use these little makeshift feet and what I do is I use a level and I screw them out according to where I need to adjust. until I get to a point where my level is level, I know that none of the paint is going to slide off of my canvas. so this has just helped me a lot in the past and I’m hoping that maybe it will help some of you. like I said any size. they do it to all of them. I usually just make sure they’re evenly spaced. doesn’t necessarily have to be in the corners but I think subconsciously I aim for the corners. so if you liked this simple hack, there are plenty more to come. make sure you comment your thoughts and theories below and subscribe to the channel. there’s also future tutorials coming up and a whole bunch of stuff you’re not going to want to miss. and yeah make sure you’re your canvases are level or you’ll lose your whole painting. stay tuned guys.
Omg what a great idea! Not sure why I've never thought of this 🤦♀️😆 Thank you 💜💚💙
This was very informative. I’m a newbie to acrylic pouring and to your channel. This explains why my paint drips off on one side more than others and the painting looks different the next day. Thank you for sharing!!!!
That’s a great idea, Gina DeLuca uses them, too. Way easier than push pins, cups and what not we use to get it done. Thanks for sharing.
How easily do they screw in? Do you have to make pilot holes first?
WOW!! Ive seen folks using tacks and cups to help keep their canvas leveled, but this is the first time Ive ever seen hooks used as a way to level the canvas. Really neat!! Thank you 🙂 🙂
