Short video investigating the difference between “slow” and “fast” horses in Red Dead Online

has anyone done any testing pitting the naco+hooded against the upland+bell (glitch) ? The upland glitched combo shows the horse stats are +4 spd/acc but idk if that actually makes a difference in game.
For that matter, I heard the glitched upland must be paired with the bell stirrups or suffers a stam penalty due to anything higher level than the bell pushing the stam drain reduction above 100%, causing a kind of error. anyone able to confirm? Edit: i actually did confirm this myself. the hooded causes stam drain whereas the bell makes it so there is none.
I also wonder what is the actual difference between the grey and black segments/bars on the horse spd/acc stats? might it be the case that the grey bars limit how much the stats can increase from saddles/stirrups? if so, that means having a saddle/stirrup combo that increases stats by any more than +2 is a waste.
I have the piebald Gypsy Cob and I love him. He’s the bravest horse I have and I can work with its stats. Originally the only complaint I had was the two speed and acceleration, but with a good saddle and stirrup, he’s amazing!
What about acceleration? I noticed my Arabian takes off like a rocket often saving my ass from bandits. Is that also just visual or there’s a difference?
This really is eye opening, thank you. I've been trying all these crazy gold glitches and farming methods and was about to pay someone to grind on my account for gold (anything to not give rockstar amymore money) to get the black arabian.
When turns out in reality, I can stick with my mustang!
Two slight corrections: the Nacodoches saddle ends up giving you -85% stamina reduction rate when equipped with the hooded stirrups. I'm sure you know that, but just highlighting it for others who might not have caught that. The second thing is that all horses have the same stats when you are in the race events. Not sure about posse races, but when you go into a race event, all horses have the same speed, so it is down to player skill for the most part. Handling type could still give players a slight edge in those races but only if they're really really good at racing in the first place. For most people it shouldn't make a significant difference.
The horse stats do not matter at all. All you need to do is make sure you know how to handle the horse and keep its stamina for longer. The stirrups and saddle is what you want to focus on. Every horse in the game is good.
i personally think that the best mustangs are super underrated, they are small, beautiful and FULL stamina and health bar, its the only horse in the game that has that (other than the kladruber) and they are amazing. also they are only 500 bucks
You can spam "Calm" ("G" on the keyboard) to regain some stamina. If you have bond lvl 4, you should be able to keep horses' stamina full (I don't know if that works on all of the horses but it works on Foxtrot and Breton).
Thanks for the video! As a new player to RDO and a person who likes to maximize efficiency, i have these types of questions all the time. It's great to see a video that backs up opinions with data! Your channel deserves more attention.
I use the chestnut black thoroughbred race horse. With naka saddle stirrups I get 10 speed. Plus you can’t get unless you purchased the ultimate edition.
What i noticed in RDO, much like in real life, the rider matters more than the horse. I've had the fastest horse being beat by almost anything.
I wondered why until i realized that my big guy kept being blown past by skinny characters(mostly females). This is most noticeable when u run next to skinnier characters at the beginning of showdowns. A character's actual visible weight (the body design in change appearance) is defining factor in a character's speed in running and riding.
Your weight stat(damage reduction) does not affect riding speeds. Most players choose skinnier builds so they may not see a difference in horses, only speeds vs others. The only reason i switched from a bigger muscular char to a skinnier char was because i was tired of getting to the action last, in both showdowns and on horseback.
You covered it all. It isn't about the horse – it's about knowing how to ride and knowing what makes the horse go and keep going. 🙂 I've won heaps of races on a Paint. And, I quite like that there's really no true META for all the horsing around… despite what so many people argue about otherwise.
speed isnt matter at all in horses only matter is horse health i own every good horse even i own black arabian and its not best of the best horse in game. rockstar are ripping players of by selling 950 , 1000 and 42, and 45 goldbars for horses get andalusian perlino its has full health at lvl 4 bondng
L3 every 30 seconds!!!!!!!!! Lol unlimited stamina as long as your horse is fully bonded. I've sprinted from Tumbleweed to Saint Denis without losing more than a quarter bar. Did a number on my thumb though 😆. But yeah I agree, style's more important overall. Almost all of the high tier saddles and stirrups just look awful. like some GTA Dev created them lol. Same with the clothes.
I've had people riding shires and leaving my fox trotter in the dust. I personally focus on health and stamina aswell. I do own a morgan aswell and love him but don't use him often because of his health. I'm tired of people saying the arabian is better just because of its elite handling, all the horses are amazing and it really comes down to opinion !

anyone?
Good advice. Thanks for doing this comparison.
I never run out of stammina, you just need level 4 bond and press the magic button every 10 sec!
i dont know if you'll see this but what are the fastest horses with the highest health? im too lazy to figure it out 😭

Health and stamina are the only stats that matter
so… no… it does not matter….
I wish they add mules and donkeys because it’s fun and funny to ride

Thanks a lot for your vid 👍.

I LOVE this video. Very scientific. Did you auto-ride to make it truly scientific?
Hi hope u read it can u say does the speed problem change
The Panther saddle is also good.
My favorites are the Missouri Fox Trotter and the Turkoman. ♥
i have beaten an arabian in race before with a kentucky saddler he thot i was cheating lol 😂
I love these kinds of videos they are super helpful thank you

Hey, my Missouri Foxtrotter is also 10 speed 🙂 Btw Criollo would beat all due to better cornering and faster acceleration out of corners.
still love my american standardbred and foxtrot but surely grew on Mustang. but after watching this i want to get thoroughbred
