This may sound like a dumb statement, but the average artists doesn’t focus enough on their own YouTube pages. YouTube can be very crucial for building an independent music career. For some people, it is the reason why they have a career today. Post your official audio with some sort of visual, something with motion is better than just a still image. As always, make sure you are consistent. Traditional YouTube is all about the title and thumbnail. A “regular” YouTuber thinks about the title and thumbnail before the video. That’s why click bait exist. It is not AS important for music video, but it can still be very useful. A clean screengrab of the music video can be a good idea for a thumbnail. 30deepgrimey does a good job of screengrabbing from his music videos. Make sure you have all links to every streaming platform that the song is on. As well as having a link to all of your social medias. When you upload, use as many tags as you can. But stay away from using something like a famous persons name because it may seem like it will help you, but there will the thousands of videos that come up before yours. Title your videos “Artist name- song name (official music video).” Like and reply to at least the top comments on your video. Not every video needs to be a great project. Having a friend film a little something of you on your iPhone is not a bad idea. Then later, invest bigger money in to songs that you believe will be big.
