  1. Thank you for being so authentic and helpful with your advice. I've decided to take the turn into being an artist on Youtube as a career and currently in the process of learning the business side of things which ain't easy. I wish the best to other talents who are pursuing this kind of career too <3

  2. Interesting tips! I've just started posting art-making videos weekly (only a few sketchbook tours before that as well as non-art related videos once in a while). For me, it's just for fun (not job-related), but I would like it if some more people watched. Even people I know IRL don't watch. I will try to use your tips to get some more viewers my way.

  3. Thank you, for your helpful videos. ^^
I am not super sure, when I started, but it has ben a while already and only this year, (2022) I reached 50 subs. It is not a lot, but I am happy about it. Posting every week, is not really possible for me. Because I do animated content as well. I try to put something out once a month and that mostly works.^^

  4. Just a quick question about audio and cameras: most of what I'm planning to do (with another YouTube channel) is mostly 3D stuff, would I really need a camera for that or would OBS Studio to capture the screen be enough? Also, with the audio, my laptop has a built-in camera but I also have a dynamic microphone that I got mainly for recording using a cassette recorder (I'm also a musician but I'm really planning for that to be audio only or integrated with some of my videos), would using either of those and using Audacity (the only audio editor that I truly trust) would be okay to start (probably have to record the audio over and over until my talking sounds clear enough to be able to understand)?

  6. I suspect that particular video took off more in that time due to the season- in October it starts getting colder and in December is when it was most popular, so winter time in the northern hemisphere… oil paints have a lot of fumes and in warm weather you can paint outdoors or have windows open but not so much when it’s freezing cold outside. If your audience is mainly North America or maybe some UK then makes sense.

  7. It takes a lot to get started, but sticking with it and finding a rhythm, coming up with new ideas and really making a job out of them is something completely different. And then there are those who are just lucky.

Keep your fingers crossed for everyone who starts a youtube channel. Unfortunately it didn't work for me.

Anyway Great Video but how did you find people for support each other?

  8. I know it takes patience. I have been uploading for about 3 years and I'm still slowly growing. It's hard work, but I'm willing to stick it out. It's really comforting that it takes bigger YouTubers just as long to get their channel going.

Tip: Whenever you feel upset about how low your sub count or view count is, just imagine however many subscribers/views you had are standing in the same room as you. 55 subs seems like not that much, but if you imagine them being in the same room as you, THAT'S A LOT OF PEOPLE.

  9. I love that you mention Roberto Blake! His channel is amazing when it comes to using YouTube to build your freelance business and become your own boss. Your channel is also hitting those similar notes on the creative/art side, which is absolutely helpful! I appreciate people like you and Roberto for talking about the analytics and back-end side that I think a lot of people, even people who are super successful on YouTube, don't know super well.

  12. This video was very helpful. I’ve actually been on youtube for a long time. Some years have been more consistent than others. Your channel is motivating me to revive my channel and get back into a consistent work flow between art creation and video content. Would love if you could check me out.

  13. Thank you! These are really good tips and reminders. I started a channel about a year ago but stopped posting. A lot because of outside life obligations, but also because I need more patience. I watched your video "Launching Your Art Career in 2022" and I'm in the first stage of just needing to make stuff. My brain however starts worrying about future steps and the whole process halts. So my new mantra is "just make stuff". I'm glad youtube recommended your videos to me.

  14. Hii Kelsey! Your channel is so informative and you telling us about the way you plan your channel is so inspiring~ I started my channel this year and feel glad that you can just make videos of what you are interested in at the time! I am also an artist but it is validating to hear that we can make videos about your life, and experiment freely! Looking forward to see your journey <3

  15. I've just started out doing art stuff on Youtube (mostly resin dice) after trying social media and Twitch streaming for a year or so. Thanks for the tips! All your videos about behind the scenes stuff have been really inspiring. I think the biggest thing that's held me back is knowing my first videos aren't going to be very good, so it's very welcome to hear that I should just START.

  16. I’ve been posting speedpaints and animations since I was in middle school. I’m about to turn 21. I worry those old videos are bad for professionalism and my traction on this platform but I don’t think I can leave the channel. My channel is a lot like a diary it holds my childhood art and a lot of memories.
