Well done, thank you coach. You're awesome.
Thanks for putting this video on. I always feel that the reason a horse runs worse when he moves up in class is because there are more horses able to run a good speed figure. For example: a MSW horse is running with a lot of horses who may run an 85 speed figure. So, when he drops down in class to a 50k claimer, he may be facing only one or two horses that can run an 85 speed figure. And the same is true for the opposite move in class and resulting finish. I don't think there is much more to it than that. In other words, maybe there is no illusive "class" so-to-speak inherent in a horse. Of course, if you breed better horses, you will get faster ones. You can also have a horse like the great Secretariat who was not a big success as a stallion. Thanks again for the video. Look forward to seeing more.
Excellent videos! Just the right length and loaded with info.
how is it that high speed is lower than average speed?
I started out with DRF since Beyer is industry standard. Now I use Brisnet, specifically late pace figs. Triple digit Brisnet LP rating can indicate that horse is sitting on a big race next time out
I personally like clocks, regardless of pace, ignoring surface how long did it take the horse to cover a quarter, a half, a mile! That’s where I start and then since I am only interested in performance for breeding purposes I compare the horse’s Equibase, Beyer figures after that. Fascinating that Sharp Azteca’s 132 or M’or Spirit’s almost ditto E-speed figures or recently Flightplan’s recent performance and even Hall of Fame Ghostzapper barely hang in there with Doc Fager’s performance. I realize you are constructing a framework for wagering but really when you try to bring speed forward in breeding that’s the biggest gamble of all.
R.i.p Medina spirit. 🐎 such a good horse he always hit the board
