How do you connect the semi directional antenna to the T-Mobile router? Do you have to be an IT tech to figure that out?
There are a lot of towers out there but not all of them equally carry all services. A lot of those apps are probably just pulling public data which doesn't necessarily have accurate information of what carriers are on those towers. Part of this is also hindered by the fact that Apple doesn't let apps have the cellular information ( or IT networking utilities have MAC address information ) I have an app on android that will list the tower that I'm connected to. Cell mapper, LTE discovery and Open Signal have been good one so far.
OK clarification how is T-Mobile = Sprint incarnated when T-Mobile bought sprint?
DSL the worst Internet you can get obviously somebody who didn't have DialUp although I think frontier DSL is pretty darn bad Hughes net was way worse due to policies.

My cell service with AT&T only gets one to two bars max out here in the country. The only internet other than satellite is wired DSL, no fiber. I get max 8mbps downloading and .70 max uploading! I'm an old retired guy who got into gaming and am trying to get faster speeds at about the same price I pay for DSL. I pay $50 a month for DSL.
I am curious 🤔, have you thought 💭 about adding a cellular booster with all that? Will you let us know if you decide to try it? Also I've heard good things about Hi-boost signal booster, just not sure what others are available

it is not unlimited. It says it is but it is not. It is great until you reach that 100 gig mark and then they WILL throttle you down to an unusable speed. I can't even log on and pay my bills because it is soooo slow.
We hated the r mobile. We have 2 kids and within a couple weeks hit the data “limit” when they deprioritize you. After that it couldn’t stream to even one divide. Hope this helps someone. Their customer service is atrocious

Your strongest argument for the product (to me) was admitting you hated T-Mobile before this trial. If everything you said about it was positive, I doubt I'd have given it a second thought. No critisism is just another commercial.

An idea to save money. Just get a parabolic dish, and place a regular cellphone in the focal point, then point the dish toward the cell tower.

There’s a slight caveat. The reason why the cell providers are able to offer such high data speeds now is that it’s 5G. Frequency specifics aside, 5G is uniformly allocated in part of the band that works only in line of sight conditions. Practically, if you’ve a small rise or a big building between your antenna and the tower, signal quality will suffer tremendously. Still, worth a try.
I know this is several months old video but it just popped up on my feed and I'm glad it did. I'm not at all techy but I'm looking for something for my sister who lives very rural in Ohio. She has no available internet, no cable, and the only cell she can get is Verizon and it's spotty. She's on a fixed income so cannot afford starlink. She has limited data on her phone due to cost. I'm wondering if this might be a viable option for her.
Problem with these videos is that they have a very limited shelf life: AT&T business only offers capped plans now and nomad internet? (Owner brought up on fraud charges again) and extremely shady business practices including not legally allowed t9 be selling his internet plans. I stopped watching after he mentioned Nomad.

Thank you so much for this! My wife and I live in a spot in Oregon that has only one ISP. I've talked to everyone else and they all said they can't help me, including the really small guys. This helps because although I was told T-Mobile doesn't have service where I am for this home internet, that may not be strictly true. I have something to work with and that really gives me hope. No, the worst internet service is dial-up. I started there and only went to DSL about 25 years ago and only last year was fiber optic became available to me in my semi rural town. I'm currently paying $40 / month, unlimited data. Up and down aren't near as good as yours, but it suits my needs.
That's actually really good for GSM internet. Although I find it difficult to live without 1gbs cable.
Just a word of warning on this: don't think that you're going to be able to use a setup like this for EVERYTHING online. IDGAF what they tell you your bandwidth is. IDGAF how stable they tell you it is. At the end of the day, you're still running on a wireless connection which means you WILL be more susceptible to intermittent connectivity issues. For things like watching YouTube videos (thanks to buffering) or going to sites that are mostly text/pictures, you'll probably be fine. For stuff like working remotely where you have to have audio/video calls regularly, using something like Amazon Workspaces, or live-streaming? Not so much. These connect over a different layer of the internet called the UDP layer. With connections to regular websites where there isn't a CONSTANT back and forth of information, the occasional split-second loss of connectivity isn't that big of a deal as your system will reach back out to the site to pick up where it left off. With sites that communicate over that UDP layer though, they're designed NOT to re-establish that connection, so if there's enough interference where you're getting disconnected on a regular basis (this can be multiple times within even just a minute), then every time that happens you'll have to connect back up to your signal, and then connect back up to the site again. If it's happening that often though, by the time you notice and get reconnected again, you'll probably have dropped enough packets to where the signal is lost so you have to go through that process all over again.
How many miles away is you're T-Mobile tower ? Any suggestions on how to get a map of towers ? Many things affect the signal. valleys, trees, body's of water.
