We all know that 4000 hours over the past 12 months is the minimum requirement for a youtube channel to be accepted into the youtube partner programme and become monetized.
But what happens to an existing channel that drops below 4000 Watch time hours, as is the case with the channel in this video that is currently running at just 3000 watch time hours and has been doing so for several months.

Channel Drops Below 4000 Watch Hours, What Happens to Youtube Monetization?
Youtube will eventually demonitize you if your view drops below 4000 hours, but not right away. My channel was monetised after a couple of my vids went viral, but then dropped below 4000 hours. It was that way for a year or more, but thisd month got dropped from the partner programme.
I haven't worked it out exactly but I'd guess after your yearly watch time drops below 4000 hours they give you a year's grace to get the hours back up before demonitizing you.
Kindly reply to me. I got demonitized , i recorrected my mistake, after deleting the few videos, my lifetime watch hours are 5600. But in 365 days my watch hours are 136. Will ihave to add this 136 to reach 4k or i can monetise Using my lifetime watch hour..please
I know this is like 2 years later but can you get demonitized if your yt shorts view count drops below 10 million after youve been monetized?

Mine dropped below 4000 and monetization was removed…. but the ads are still there on the videos I created. So basically, google has taken all of my previous work and is still making money on it by placing ads, but changed the rules to their advantage and now shares NOTHING with me for creating the content. Greed greed and more greed. We need a replacement for Google… they have too much power, influence, ability to spy on us, and above all, too much data on all of us… IMO
Is your channel monetized? My channel is monetized, I got over 80,000 hours a month but last month I got only 2000 hours and I'm predicting this February those 80k hours will be deducted because youtube counts last 365 days watchtime hours, so will my channel be demonetized after Feb?

We got monetized just after Christmas. No clue why, but after the new year, our watch hours dropped from 4.4k to 3.6k. Our estimated revenue from 29th-31st December dropped by half. From 1st January till now, our revenue is now 0 per day. People say you don't lose add revenue if you drop under the monetization requirements, but our channel says otherwise. We should hit 4k watch hours again in a week, but I have no trust in YouTube and worried that they will randomly decide to remove more once we hit it again.
