Sometimes Ubuntu 20.04 [Focal Fossa] and the late distributions are having a slow WiFi connection speed issue, that could be related to multi factors like the old WiFi adapter being used and the not fully supported versions of those adapters, and some factors related to the WiFi module settings and the WiFi channel connection rate (2.4GHz or 5.5GHz).
Here I’m just sharing my fix and how I handled this issue, there is another solutions to be considered and you can find some on this Ubuntu thread depending on your machine and your adapter:
Commands used in the video:
1- sudo lshw -class newtwork -short && nmcli device status
2- sudo iwlist [your_wifi_device_name] scanning
3- sudo nano /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf
When I do command sudo iwlist scanning it says:"Interface doesn't support scanning" how to fix this pls help.
So if I have 2.4 frequency what should I exactly do to change the channel and how can I know that my device supports that channel. Sorry if I'm asking for to much I'm just still new to the world of tech
Amazing bro. I have the same internet in Germany with same speed. Was facing the issue in my Ubuntu only. After changing power save value to 2, this has solved the issue and saved money. Thanks a lot and appreciated 😀

For those of you wondering what the values of "/etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf"
0: use default settings
1: ignore
2: disable power saving
3: enable power saving
