I don’t like ANY modern internet browser, but I installed every major one to compare them. Here were the results from those tests.

I us Brave as when I use other browsers that call home and transfer data other than what I am looking at it overloads the capacity of the limited internet that is available to me, all of 15 Mb per second some times less. the add blocking also helps to speed things up. The joys of living in a technology dead zone, no cell service and poor satellite due to train and trees. Browser speed is the least of my home computing problems and online gaming is a Not Happening.
FIREFOX FTW
It very much depends on what hardware are you running. Im getting a 356 on Brave and a 294 on Firefox. Arch – Hyperland, R7 7700x, iGPU.
Quick question Chris do you think Gaming Chromebooks are worth buying? If not do you have a Linux based alternative to chrome??? I'd perfer a Linux based Gaming Laptop not a desktop please. All help is appreciated.
Samsung Chromebook user right here. Switched from Windows about 6 years ago. Never looked back since!
So when you say Chrome has the best speed does that include the Chromium browser too?
Remember the internet Explorer days. Thats all there was back then. Now i use Google Chrome on every thing as its quick and simple and i can sync all data etc to each device. Passwords all remember on each device which is a godsend. Mobile phones, tablets, laptops, pc even tv. Chrome for me!.
Very weird scores, I did this test exactly on clean FF, Chrome and Brave in 2022 (month may be different) and pictures was totally different.
Both FF and Chrome/Chromium did around 140+-2, slightly on favor of Chrome but not significant even on leader-board. Brave was beast getting around 170.
I retook those test at least 3 times each and nothing changed.
So in short FF does not lag behind chrome.
the test done on edge was very unfair considering the browser is designed for windows usage.
But recently google is the financing Firefox
Ive been using firefox, i swiched from chrome and it was hard yet fireox looks better
i was really enjoying the new opera gx just for the look but i had no idea they had done that stuff. guess its time to move on to vivaldi
My current browser is WaterFox, its clean and fast, moved over from Chrome. Very much enjoying it.
Been using brave for about a year now , although i agree the crypto stuff is annoying and the awards program didn't work out to well for me either I still use it and think its the best one out there
The best browser of all time was IE6 engine with Maxthon GUI.
Second – Opera Presto (before 12.xx).
Third place Firefox 2-3.
All modern browsers are pure sh@t. Especially the chromium based – absolute garbage.
AND… firefox is supposed to be now finance supported by… Google !!! I heard (is it so ?) …
FIREFOX RULES…No one uses Google Chrome except Google babies and or teenagers that use Chrome on their phones = truth
Nice to know sombody has the same name as me!
What about Opera?
I used Brave and firefox
Chris can you review Thorium browser, fork of Chromium browser. Let us know your thoughts on it. Thank you.
mostly i use phone(android). i use firefox. i uninstalled chrome and will never use it. i tried many other browser, very lots of them but firefox FTW.
Some websites won't open correctly in firefox!
Im using GNU Icecat-102.5 on my machine. Its blazing fast on my machine. It scored ‘infinity’ on speedometer test and 218.48 on Motion Mark test with the default installed extensions. Im on Gentoo Linux so everything has been compiled on my machine. My whole system is compile with gcc-12.2.1 -O3 graphite and lto with zen3 compiler optimizations. Im also using musl libc instead of glibc so all of my software MUST be compiled on my machine against my libraries. Propietary software wont work. The browser opens immediately when i launch it. The downside to this browser is that it MUST be built from source. Being on Gentoo this isnt an issue but on other distros, you have to go through many more hoops to get it configured properly and installed.
Chrome, and Firefox has been sluggish for me lately. I am using Canary right now and it is fast.
