🔮 About this video:
Since the material design revolution, we have been stuck with various versions of the modern-minimal style. Nice, rounded edges on everything, soft, colorful shadows and subtle, pretty gradients. But the fact that Neubrutalism exists makes me happy, because we do need alternatives in UX design.
Neo brutalism is also quite democratic. It often uses shapes styled in a default presentation software way like Keynote or Powerpoint.
That way of styling normalizes the ugly and makes it easier to approach for beginners – they’d be thinking “I could do that myself!” and I believe this is the exact reasons some brands went with this style. It’s non threatening and anyone could do it. As far as UX/UI design trends go, this one is really interesting and worth exploring next to Neumorphism, Glassmorphism, Aurora UI and Modern Minimal.
You can find out more about this trend at neubrutalism.com
We talk about this style based on great examples from @Figma and @Gumroad

Hello! Would apple allow apps in this style on their platform ? thanks!
Good video, thanks a lot.
Neubrutalism should be banned, buried and forgotten 😉 It came up shortly in the late 90's, made me think I'm looking at a kindergarten collage. Even on Gumroad, which is using it quite "well", I am afraid of a horrible GIF popping up any moment. But it's true, nice to have something different from all the other trends. Like Punks with a hangover downtown… I'm glad someone is still living wild!
it's like a fusion between the clashing shapes and colors of the 80s with the fun and chaotic/diverse oriented from that flat corporate style
Seems when the other colors are a bit desaturated then they can handle the brutal black
I love it, my next web page will be in this style 🙂
by june next 2023 eveyone will be done with this.
I hate this style with a blazing passion but I agree that it should be used where appropriate or necessary. Nickelodeon site, sure! Cartoon sites, yeah.
I love this graphic style. I like also how it's waking my kinesthetic senses up so that's such a huge personal discovery. I found out recently that when I scroll down on Gumroad and Figma websites, it feels like I'm eating marshmallow and gummies.
I'm still on the fence with neobrutalism. While it's a refreshing art form, I don't see it being something as accepted across the web as the minimalism standard. I agree with what you said towards the end, Malewicz, it can only truly work with certain brands. I wouldn't recommend using this with certain businesses or organizations. I'm starting to see some brands incorporate this design and I personally wouldn't purchase from them just because I can't take them seriously. I'd rather see neobrutalism in a 'gamification' aspect of design, it's fun, funky, weird. If that's the brand image you're going for, then maybe that would be best for you.
Awesome insights! Go on bro 😎
I love this:) the design is so refreshing .. im just wondering what type of companies or users would be drawn to this design? Im thinking of doing a personal mobile project and using this type of design to put into my portfolio.
Mailchimp
I'll give it a try! 😀
Hey, you say that white on white with white accents and buttons with white background and white surrounding are not "in" anymore?? What will Jonny Ive do now???
Hey ! What do think which UI is more easy web ui or mobile ui?
I actually adore this style, I think I'll use this as inspiration for my portfolio site 😁
Is it better suited for mobile-use only? (I think it works better for mobile than the desktop designs that I have seen)
Love your work! What's the font you're using in these videos?
This shit is ugly…
I'm currently working on a board game heavily inspired on old classics like Sim City 2000 and Transport Tycoon. I arrived to Neubrutalism since it provokes a deep nostalgia effect while looking bold and new at the same time. This video made extremely happy I'm in the right direction, plus I learned a lot, thanks!
Happy to find this video! I actually been practicing this style today and I love it! Very playful and bold! Perfect for brands that wants to be fun and target maybe a younger audience! Thanks for the explanations and looking forward to the tutorial 😁
I think to call this a new style of brutalism is really not fitting.
its a different form of art. i like this style
