Ok so the Last Last Of Us Season One Episode is now out and throughout this video we’re gonna be breaking down episode 9, all the easter eggs, hidden details and also discussing that ending. First up though I wanna thank everyone for rocking with me the last 9 weeks and we’re sort of like Joel and Ellie a bit because I’d doom the entire human race just to get a thumbs up from you.
Anyway we start off the episode with a flashback and this features a major game cameo. Out in the woods we join a pregnant woman running and this is none other than Ashley Johnson. Ashley voiced Ellie in the game and here we catch her playing her mother. So far several big actors from the game have popped up including Tommy’s voice actor as Perry, Troy Baker as James last week and Marlene’s who shows up later on in this scene.
Ellies mother is called Anna and she was first mentioned in the last of us comic American Dreams.
This featured Ellie and Riley and in it we learned a little bit about Anna and what she did before the outbreak.
Anna worked as a nurse before the outbreak and we know that she and her lifelong friend Marlene survived together when everything went down worse than this channels views next week.
All that we learned from the backstroy was that she died within a day of giving birth to Ellie but here we see it fleshed out with her running to a farmhouse being chased by an infected person. We can see a big symbol for the fireflies denoting that this is a safehouse and you can also catch what I’m guessing is the Boston QZ in the background. As we know this was controlled by Fedra and though we don’t learn why Anna’s out on her own like this it likely has something to do with the infected.

Fireflies act like they're above everyone else. I'm glad Joel killed lots of them. Should've let Joel and Ellie embrace one last time if Ellie chose to sacrifice herself.
One and done. As the season progressed and the way the season ended it was a let down. It started decent but come on one guy takes out a bunch of rebels and saves the girl. How original. Regardless of a season 2 or not I'm outta here
I always wonder what the fireflies would have done if they gave elllie the choice and she said no
first 2 episodes were great, but the rest were pretty bad.
Isn't Hello Fresh anti union? Are you anti union?
bro went on a cod kill streak for nothing 💀
If I'm Joel and you're Ellie, I'm going to be careful about helping girls in danger now Mr HeavySpoilers!
Show was an L with infected. I'm not even asking for a grandiose fight with them. But actually have then have a presence and not just background noise
I very much got house at the end of part 2 vibes from the house that Anna gave birth to Ellie in. The colors, layout, etc felt very similar
I’m on Joel’s side !! ❤
I really hope they look at the second part of the story and make sure they just reorder how they tell it.
I hoped we could’ve have had more content with a longer season finale
Well, what are we going to talk about now? Yellowjackets, maybe…?
Loved part 2 so I’m very excited for that
Why not take a biopsy first? If the culture didn’t work, then take a bigger biopsy….why jump to removing the entire brain??? It’s one of the few things that didnt seem very realistic about the story.
not complaining but just realized the spoiler video is longer than the actual show
You really did the best breakdowns for this one
The breakdown is longer than the episode…My G
Where is her backpack at the end?
I am so happy that they got Ashley Johnson to play Ellie's mom. That was a perfect fit, sad that she had to die though..but at least they show how Ellie is immune to the virus..
They couldve easily made the show 2 seasons with a few infected scenes and kept us gamers very happy. I feel the first 3 episodes really set up a different show ..
I am on Joel's side. There's why:
1. For all the things Ellie has experienced, she has also missed out quite a few. If Ellie saw what she has missed out, she might not have agreed to what the Fireflies wanted to do with her brain.
2. The "Ellie's sacrifice can save the world" narrative is just a claim spurned by the Fireflies. For all we know, the Fireflies could have buried Ellie in ignominy and labelled someone else they preferred to be the savior of mankind.
3. Joel has the choice to do what is best for his own interest and he takes the choice even at gunpoint. After all, the world(s) he has known never really gave a damn about his own interest. Ellie wasn't even given a chance to decide. She could have said no to Fireflies but the latter never even give her a choice to decide. To go out like that without being informed, without being able to say goodbye, is akin to The Fireflies murdering her for the chemical messengers in her brain.
4. We assume everyone who died in the hospital think the same as Marlene. That might not have been the truth. Anyone of them could have murdered Marlene and took the cure from the surgery room and declared himself or herself as the new overlord of the world with the supposed cure in hand. Who can guarantee such an event or betrayal would not happen?
5. The cure might not even work. There is just one doctor in the surgery room as far as I know. Just cut Ellie's brain up to retrieve what that doctor thought might work. Death is irreversible. A cure or a vaccine via another way is not completely impossible even at the point of time.
6. Joel was meant to take Ellie away. If not, Joel would have been killed or incapacitated in the prolonged gunfight in the hospital and the Fireflies would have gotten their way. Even with those incredible odds, Joel's determination to save Ellie is stronger than the Fireflies' determination to keep Ellie away from Joel. Destiny has decided.
The ideal scenario would be to run tests on a far more extended period of time, giving everyone time to decide what is the best course of action or even newer, better options to come into the picture but the Fireflies or Marlene is too impatient.
After watching this episode i can safely say 'joel not only deserves to die but die like a DOG'🫠
I think at this point it’s best if we just let the series sit where it is and not make a season 2. I don’t want to live through the disappointment a second time.
Mmmm this was a lil boring as was the rest of the show.
Why isn't anyone talking about the fact that Abby was there in the hospital scene? I figured every spoiler channel would be pointing this out.
Does Anyone else feel that the last two episodes were rushed? this episode wasn't even an hour. Joel went through the Hospital like Terminator, with almost no suspense at all
I agree the season wasn’t consistent however it was beyond expectations and that goes a long way in my rating (8.5)
The next season maybe taking longer than a year to come around is fine by me. Plenty of time to steal myself for all the…good times rock on etc etc. I love thé Abby stuff because the whole thing is Ellie learning to make her own decisions not just spiral because justice! or whatever. Abby could be a stronger ally but grief clouds that thought when there are so few left and all the whatifs just make me love their parallel journeys.
I loved a lot of the scene for scene remakes but maybe a bit more in the vein of frank n bill would work next season. And I doubt they would but some convo about how the vaccine coud have caused Ellie like issues, pinging the fedra scanners, behavioral and emotional outburst. Something about how the hell do you administer it on a national level. Hell something about her only working for one strain that has now mutated over the years. Like the world building I want is rational epidemiology, just what everyone is looking for on tv nowadays 😂.
Anyways thanks for a great series.
