Comcast/Xfinity now offers gigabit home internet for many metropolitan cities and expanding daily. Recently, I switched to their new Gigabit home internet and finally upgraded to gigabit download speeds. Advertised speeds are 1000Mbps down and 35Mbps up. Wifi will be much slower since your wireless technology still can’t realistically go up above around 300-400Mbps. To take advantage, you will most likely need to hook up your devices via ethernet to get the full gigabit download speeds. I recommend Google WiFi mesh, check out my review here:

comcast is the best. jus wish they had s wireless internet plan
I'm paying for 900mbps and my speed test are only showing 40mbps tops using wifi next to modem.. Can anyone help?
Mine doesn't take time to go up, mine just instantly goes up to 900. anyone know why?
Because it just started doing this, before it took time to go up to 900.
Why is the upload speed still so poor even with the expensive Gigabit plan? Especially in today with Web 2.0, YouTube, Live streaming, and Cloud Storage upload speed is equally as important as download speed and 35Mbps feels like a speed number from the early 2000s. I've noticed it's always only Xfinity from Comcast that pulls this crap. They are also the crappy company that enforces a monthly datacap. That's why I'm moving to a neighborhood with Verizon Fios. Cheaper and faster and more symmetric speed internet with no datacap bull.
What modem do I need?
Should have gone with Verizon fios which offers up to 1gbps uploads speeds too along with the download which offer the same speeds.
Sir you need TCP OPTIMIZER AND GO WATCH HOW TO SETUP ON YOUTUBE you’ll get lower ping and faster speed and Adguard chrome browser extension
How much do u pay a month
I work in comcast we do have xb7 now. Which is more compatible to work with higher than 1g Internet.
you get same speeds with wifi and wired.. get 802.11ac or ac and use 5Ghz. also your line is not full fiber like att. you would have like 5 ping if you had true fiber
Mine says 237mb . Weird thing is when I was on 600mb plan I get around 500 to 650mb now I get 237mb which is weird
I still think AT&T fiber is still a better value. You get 1gig down and up for 100 bucks. I can care less about either of these companies but for now I'm with ATT, and I have no data cap. So there's that. I will say, I don't like that I have to use their modem … I can't use my own.
Would an extender downgrade or upgrade the performance?
I actually get 936 down and 42 up. I am also connecting directly to the modem using a ARRIS SBG8300 modem router combo. Whats is the weird is I have had Comcast service for 12 years now and in every internet plan package I have had from them I have always gotten more then I was packaged plan i was paying for. check out the following….
25mb plan I was getting 35-40
75mb plan I was getting 85-90
250mb plan I was getting 300
600mb plan i was getting 730mb
but in 1gig plan I can even burst above 936. Its like I'm being throttled.
Two more weird things the cost difference of the 75 to 250 was an extra 5 a month and the cost difference of the 600 to 1 gig was an extra 10 a month. Does that even make sense?
XB6 is disappointing. Just signed up and never reached close to Gigabit. You really need to go to XB7. It works better with Wireless Devices.
recently self installed xb7 modem w/ 1000Mbps plan…
it connected fine but house is old + wired longgggggg ago so im only gettin 35 down/30 up plus 17 hd channels aren't coming in that should be! The underground coax is bad/damaged and signsl is -12!!! its a miracle im getting anything so they gotta run new underground line. They start on the 18th. Least I have ''some" servicefor now tho lol
Yeah, phones at the time this was posted had WiFi 4 and 5 and the maximum speed was 450-600 MBPS. In 2019, when WiFi 6 was introduced, phones are capable of taking advantage of a full 2 Gbps Speedtest.
Fios gigabit is a much better deal because you get sequential gigabit and no data cap for $79 a month not to mention it's fiber to the home instead of cable.
How is your upload speed so low compared to your download speed?
I have had Xfinity for over 6 years and while they may offer expensive gigabit speeds with horrible upload, they have deceiving billing practices and the worst customer service. I will switch the day another comparable internet provider is offered. But that’s great your happy with them. But that may quickly change when you experience things I have in the past 6 years.
My optic fiber internet gets me +80 mbps upload.
got it for the upload yet its at a very mediocre 40 up when verizon has a upload of like 900 and a download of 900 for like 79.99
